The Citroen C4 has been launched recently in two forms and now they are available for sale in the UK. The starting price is quite reasonable and of course, you have to pay more for the EV.
Fuel-powered vehicles are offered in four trim levels i.e. Sense, Sense Plus, Shine, and Shine Plus. The electric vehicle is the range-topper, but is not available in the entry-level shine trim; however, it offers the same equipment as combustion vehicle on other trim levels.
The company is hopeful that the new vehicle would help the compact hatchbacks to be prominent again. The model line includes petrol and diesel powertrain options and an electric version has an SUV-like design and provides great comfort.
The rival of the Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf will be available in petrol, diesel, and electric powertrain options. It will be the first family hatchback from the parent firm PSA Group to provide a zero-emission variant.
The vehicle is very important for the company and they are hoping it would boost the brand’s sale in Europe. The company’s CEO Vincent Cobée expressed the same feelings. Last year, the brand sold 825,000 vehicles, growing by only 1% year on year.
He said that the vehicle represents the brand in terms of design, comfort, and innovation. This segment is important and has a good customer base, so, it’s very crucial for the growth of our brand.
Based on the CMP modular platform that can accept both conventional and electric powertrains, the vehicle has an electric engine that can produce a power of 131bhp and 191lb ft of torque. There is a 49kWh battery that supplies power. The claimed range is 214 miles and it can reach 61mph in 9.5sec with a top speed of 92mph. The vehicle can recover energy when braking and decelerating.
An 10kW charger is provided that can complete the charge in about five hours. There is also a 100kW fast charger that can achieve an 78% charge in half an hour.
